Come on, admit it, you know you’ve done it: while walking through an art museum, you stop every now in then in front of a piece of art, cock your head to the side and say “Hmmm.”
That “Hmmm” translates, of course, into: “Ah, come on… My dog could have done that.”
Well, there is a chance, albeit a puppy of a chance, that your dog did do it. Or if not your dog, one of his canine pals. More and more dog owners are strapping berets on their pooches and letting them go wild with the acrylics. Turns out that many dogs seem to actually enjoy painting, and their muttsterpieces end up being as good (if not better) than some of the stuff you see in a modern art museum.
Three Salisbury, Maryland, pooches — Kayne, Major and Sammy — are leaps ahead of the competition in the canine art world, having made their canvas debuts last year. The three furry friends, nicknamed the Doggie DaVincis, have pulled in as much as 1,700 bones per original piece after having their unique artwork displayed at Salisbury University’s Atrium Art Gallery. Not bad for a few hours of canine brushing.
