Perhaps the best Oscar acceptance speech EVER was given last night by Japanese filmmaker Kunio Kato, who won the coveted trophy for his animated short La Maison en Petits Cubes. Here’s the speech in it’s entirety:

“So heavy. Thank you very much. Thank you, my supporters. Thank you, all my staff. Thank you, my pencil. Thank you, Academy. Thank you, animation. Thank you my company, Robot. Domo arigato, Mr. Roboto. Thank you very much. Thank you.”

Classic moment in film history. Thank you and congratulations, Mr. Kato. If you missed it, you can watch the clip here.

He thanked his pencil! Too funny. I was touched when I saw Mickey Rourke wearing a photo of his beloved Loki and said how she left him when she knew he would be okay.
