Aww, this is sweet. This deer was abandoned by it’s mother because it’s blind, so a family took it in and raised it to live in their house and the woods around their home, complete with a GPS collar so she never gets lost.

    I “HEART” Dilly!

It is wonderful that Dilly has a loving, caring home
but I am deeply concerned about what she is being fed. There is “Deer food” available.
Liver and kidney failure occur from too much
“people food”. I hope she will not die young as a result of such bad nutrition! Wise up people!

I highly praise this wonderful couple for rescuing
a sweet, abandoned, helpless animal in the
wilderness. Bless them for their good care and love to Dilly. I hope she has a long, happy life
but all those toxic foods will shorten it. She may love all food they are feeding her but it is extremely
dangerous to her health and life.

Dillie was not a wild deer. I very expressly made the point to the reporters that she was born on a farm. She has a 10 generation pedigree of domestication.
She does not eat garbage all the time– that is just for the cameras. She eats the same properly balanced diet that the cervid collections receive in zoos– but she does like her treats, and this makes funny video. She is already approaching her life expectancy for a wild deer, and she is very healthy and happy. I have nearly three decades of experience as a vet so you will just have to trust me more than you can trust how the reporters make things look. Melanie Butera, DVM
