So, this is weird! Apparently in Japan they have these places called “cat cafés.” They’re sort of like geisha theaters except instead paying to spend time with beautiful women, you’re paying ¥1000 ($10.65 USD) an hour to spend time with cats. Patrons are apparently required to remove their shoes, and be very quiet (you’re not supposed to wake up any sleeping cats) and are loaned cat toys. Man, that sounds awesome. If they had these in America I would totally go to one. (via seaofshoes)

The Japanese obviously recognize the healing, calming power of cats.
I would go to one too if it was close by.
or you can just go to the dumpster across our street
seen this at Jane’s seaofshoes websites
I can understand why they wouldn’t want to stress the cats with unwanted petting; some people would undoubtedly harass the cats with their well-meant attentions. But are you at least allowed to lure the kitties with bits of your food? Do they sell bags of catnip?
In the guest book there’s a few comments saying a cat named Milk is super cute. Which one is Milk?!
It’s called YOUR LOCAL ANIMAL SHELTER. Many cat-only places will let you go and play with the kitties as much as you like, especially kittens–those need to be socialized so they are friendly around people.
Many apartment complexes do not allow for pets, hence these places fill up a need.
There’s plenty of other cafes that have themes over there, this is just one of the many flavours. :)
Because in cities, most working Japanese rent and may not be able to keep a cat. Also, due to busy schedules, they may feel it unfair to have a pet that does not receive enough attention or stimulation. Why do Americans have petting zoos? If people like pygmy goats so much, why don’t they just get their own?
Been there. not as fantastic as you think, at least from my experience of the cat cafe’ I visited. Don’t know the others.
Cats do what they normally do: ignore you. What I saw there is that they tend to hide in difficult to reach places so that they can sleep without annoying humans around. Some of them play, but they seem bored more than else.
The rules of the house don’t make it pleasant either. The place looks like a kindergarden, and it’s basically difficult or plain impossible to sit down and hope that a cat jumps on your lap. You cannot take a cat up, only light stroking is allowed, and in general only those things that do not disrupt the cat natural behavior. The short time you are allowed to stay (30 min, one hour max) does not make it a pleasure either. You can buy a drink inside, but nothing fancy.
If it were more like a tearoom with cats, where you can stay as much as you want, drink some coffee, read a book and have the chance that a cat sits on your lap, that would be interesting, but as it is, it’s just a fancy name for a cat zoo.
Why not visit an animal shelter for free… I’m sure the animals would appreciate the attention more.
Im smile, smile and smile with all the beautiful pictures.
Can you give your comment in my blog..My blog its all about cats – im very appreciate your comment
I think a ‘puppy cafe’ would be far more interactive!

Starving for an Image – The Issue of Super Skinny Models The fashion industry is more than just selling clothes; its about selling an image. A large part of that image for many in this industry is looking tall and thin, really thin. The argument for desiring the stick-thin appearance is that the clothes look better on skinny models. SadYes. If you can get a local university professor in an exercise science, biology, or nutrition department to proctor the 3-hour exam, you can take the CISSN at a pre-determined time as agreed to by the ISSN and the test-taker. To do this, call 1-866-472-4650 and register via phone or register online.
Medical and nutritional professionals are concerned about the use of ergogenic aids among young athletes for two major reasons. The first is that these drugs and supplements, first used by adult athletes in the 1980s, are now being used by children as young as 10 or 12. The second is that creatine and anabolic steroids may produce long-term adverse effects on the body even though they do produce gains in body mass and strength, while steroid precursors, ephedra, and growth hormone pose a good many risks to health without any proof that they enhance athletic performance.
