I think I should preface this one by saying that my guess is that the dog in these photos just wanted to play with the little furry brown thing. I can’t imagine he actually wanted to eat it. He’s far too cute for that kind of behavior. ;) That said, the little furry brown thing’s mother wasn’t having any of it. The last image is classic. Check it out:

    Oh my goodness. Yes he probably just wanted to play … but squirrels aren’t very playful, obviously!

    Looks like a baby squirrel. So cute as they go back up the tree.

    Squirrels are the most frustrating creatures for my Afghan Hounds. Those fiendish fuzz balls zip up a tree or phone pole and look down laughing their tails off at my dogs. I agree with them that it is unfair for something so small to humiliate my nice big hairy dogs. So we go home where they can play tug of war with a fluffy toy and rip out its squeaker. The expression on the black dog’s face (”What the ?!?!”) as Mama Squirrel is dragging Junior to safety is, indeed, priceless.
