    Many hounds and also other dogs have large ears. This gives them a large advantage over other creatures. Their hearing is far superior to humans. Their smelling is out of town. Their eyesight is not so hot. My two Afghan sight hounds will spot a rabbit in the woods. That rabbit will freeze into a statue and become invisible to the dogs. Author Stanley Coren has written some interesting books about the comparison between dogs and humans. A good one is “The Intelligence of Dogs.” Read it; it is very interesting. You will not need to buy it as it is probably sitting ignored in your public library.
