Sleep-running doggie – update: I’VE TAKEN THE VIDEO DOWN.

So if you didn’t see this while it was here, it was a video of a dog named Bizkit, apparently having a little run in his sleep, and then jumping up and running into a wall. It was pretty funny, but a little disturbing. If you were around when I first posted it, you read that I hesitated a few days before posting it, so it had already made its way around the Internet before I got it up here.

After reading your comments and reading the Dr. Barchas analysis and then watching a longer clip of the same dog having another episode, I went ahead and pulled the clip. This second video features what I will clearly call an episode, since there’s definitely something going on here.

I’m here to laugh and smile and have a little snuzzy fun, but not at the expense of a dog that does, in fact, need to be checked out by a vet. I think that’s what we’re all here for, in fact…

Thanks for your comments, and for tuning in for the cuteness!

I remember when I was a kid our dogs would sleep that soundly …but I never saw them running into a wall!

Hilarious and no, that pooch wasn’t hurt. Sometimes I will be awakened during the night because both my Afghan Hounds are on the bed having exciting dreams. Maybe: “Death to all squirrels!” I’ll be the punching bag for 8 giant paws the size of your fist. My younger dog also “talks” in her sleep. Then there’s the huge thud when one rolls over and four large legs go overboard and a hound falls off the bed. I must wake up and give many pats and kisses to soothe the wounded ego and, like kitties, the embarrassment.

I used to sleep walk as a kid and run into walls. I never got hurt because I bounced. It looks like this baby just ended up a little bewildered and sheepish.
I saw this last week on You Tube.
My baby girl has vivid dreams and runs and woofs in the sleep. She hasn’t gotten up yet though.
Your concern and care are comendable though. ^_^

Dr Barchus’s post says he thinks this dog is having some kind of seizure and isn’t just sleep walking. You should remove this link.

Oh, deer. I followed Sassy’s link and read the vet’s comments. My Afghan Hounds do all sorts of weird and interesting things awake and asleep. I have five kids and the same thing could be said about them, along with our four cats. Over the years I have developed a high tolerance for shenanigans, but apparently in this case a poor sense of judgment. I apologize.

Meowm wonderfed if something might be wrong with that woofie. We hope he gets some help….it really isn’t very funny that he ran into the wall.

Thank you for pulling that video. I was concerned when I first saw it and was worried there might be something wrong. That was not normal behavior for a dog….
