I posted a little snuzz from Angola here last week, but then Henda Mendoza Traça sent in this one, so it’s definitely worth hopping back to Angola and taking another look! I think you agree, yeah?

Here’s what Henda has to say about this super-snuzzy shot:
The shot was taken in Cabo Ledo in a province called Bengo that is about 40km from Luanda, the capital. The monkey’s name is Chica. Female. She lives in a lodge for tourists in Cabo Ledo and she is actually chained, but she adoooores to hug the kittens that live there, and to clean them… They are not always willing, but once they are “caught” they just let her do her thing…
And if that’s not enough for ya, Henda’s sister has a great shot of the same monkey with a different cat! You can see that one here.
Thanks, Henda, for sharing this awesome shot with us!

Ahh, who doesn’t love these awesome little curious critters? Meerkats in a stare-down:

Meerkats live in tropical and open plain areas in South Africa, South Angola, Namibia, and Botswana. Meerkats are very playful with members of their own group, but are not very social with outsiders. Each meerkat has an assigned job within the group, which could be a guard, teacher, or babysitter for the burrow, among others. The guards watch for predators and bark warnings if one approaches. There is usually a dominant pair of breeders that will run the pack and keep everyone in line. Meerkats communicate with a variety of chatters and barks.
Chatter chatter! Bark bark!
