The Most Popular Snuzz From Last 30 Days

Animal Planet is reporting about these two cute animals that were saved from the Jesuta Fire near Santa Barbara, California. The bobcat kitten was saved a week before the fawn, near Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Ranch, where it was dehydrated and near death.

“They rescued the fawn during last week’s wildfire. Although wild animals, especially of separate species, are never placed together due to regulations, in this emergency situation, they had no choice. During the mayhem of the fire, they were forced to put animals anywhere they could, since they had run out of crates large enough for the fawn. The kitten ran to the fawn, and it was instant bonding.”

Koalas if you don’t know are not social and don’t come out of trees or down to the suburbs very often. But the main thing is that they don’t actually drink water normally at any time. All their food and water source is provided from the eucalyptus leaves that they eat. That’s why they sleep about 22 hours of the day because the calories and liquid intake is not enough to keep them awake long enough, but they consume enormous amounts of leaves in that time. So.. the following photos are even more amazing once that fact is known.

Gingerwolf Stumbled this one over to me, certainly one of the snuzziest cat pix I’ve seen in a very long time. Thanks, Gingerwolf!

Let me just start by saying that a badger is not generally a very snuzzy creature. They are in fact, pesky little critters that can get pretty darn nasty and are very capable of holding their own, even against a much larger animal like, say, me. I have crossed paths with badgers out here in the sticks and generally just get the heck out of Dodge, in a very macho tail-between-legs kind of way.

You see, if they get their fangs into you, you’re in real trouble. Wikipedia says:

The lower jaw is articulated to the upper by means of a transverse condyle firmly locked into a long cavity of the cranium, so that dislocation of the jaw is all but impossible… This enables the badger to maintain its hold with the utmost tenacity.

Huh? Condyle? Wha…?

Anyhow, all of the nasty badger talk aside, the baby ones are pretty darn cute!! … Especially when they’re being saved: firefighters in Norway rescued three baby badgers from a burning building in Oslo on Sunday, which led to these really snuzzy photos:
