TWO bits of Algerian snuzz today!

This first pic is of a 15 cm long Agama mutabilis, taken by Dr. Markus Numberger in Algeria in 1987. Happy little dude, eh?

Markus adds:

It was during a 5 weeks-4WD-trip trough Algeria organized by the biology department of the University of Konstanz, Germany … My ex-girlfriend took the lizard together with some geckos back with her to Germany and kept them in a terrarium. She really loved the Agama, because it was so cute and active during daytime.

Excellent work, Doc! Thanks!

And the second is from Bachir Blidi, who has this to say about his pic:

My hometown (where I grew up) is called Blida (Blida is also a province), about 45 Km southwest of Algiers. So I was visiting my folks when I decided to go pay the monkeys a visit. That monkey area is commonly known by its French name “Gorges de la Chiffa” (Chiffa is a little town a few kilometers away from where the monkeys are), which could loosely (and maybe literally too) be translated into “Chiffa’s grooves”, but it’s appropriate to call it Chiffa Valley.

So Chiffa Valley is within the province of Blida and it’s a part of a national park visited by hundreds of people everyday. And I happened to be one of the visitors the day I took that shot.

Sweet shot, Bachir!
