The great news for cats and cat owners is that two new sports have been added to the next round of summer Olympics, a decision made after an interest in organized competitive cat sports surfaced during the recent games in Beijing. The first two, according to the wacked-out team of reporters over at Joe-ks.com, are going to be Cat Swimming and Catnastics, as can be seen here.

Hmmm, those look very exciting. I wonder what cathletic event will be announced next. Any ideas?

Did you know that nearly twice as many cats watched the Olympics in Beijing than did humans? It’s true, and I would TOTALLY link to my source right now if he wasn’t purring away in a deep sleep…

That means that inspired kitties all over the world are gearing up for the 2012 Olympics in London, getting their hops and their jumps and their balancings all sorted out. Thanks to Ultra Kawaii for piecing together this great collection of these amazing cathletes in training!

[FYI: The fun starts at 0:24, after a boring ad for Windows Vista. Boo hoo.]
