Lets start this morning off with something ‘awww’ inspiring! This is an extended trailer for a show called Rescue Ink. It’s about a bunch of guys in New York City (some of them ex-cons, some of them bikers, all of them are pretty intimidating etc) who got together and formed a militia of sorts that investigate reports of animal abuse. They find malnourished pets and injured or illegally owned animals and make sure that the pets end up in a safe home and that the abusers are sent to the proper authorities–after getting the crap scared out of them. It’s nice to know there are some people out there being real life super heroes for pets.
To me, it’s not a life if they’re in a cage. They need to be able to run full speed and climb a tree… That’s a cat.

From the website:

Our Mission

The Cat House on the Kings is California’s largest no-cage, no-kill, lifetime cat sanctuary and adoption center. Our mission is to place rescued cats and kittens into loving, permanent homes; to provide a safe, happy and healthy home for unwanted cats and kittens in a unique, no-cage facility; to prevent pet overpopulation through spaying and neutering; and to educate the public about responsible pet ownership.

Since its founding 16 years ago, The Cat House on the Kings has saved over 16,000 cats and 4,000 dogs (not counting the 40,000 animals we have spayed and neutered!) and currently cares for more than 700 cats and kittens!

Let me just start by saying that a badger is not generally a very snuzzy creature. They are in fact, pesky little critters that can get pretty darn nasty and are very capable of holding their own, even against a much larger animal like, say, me. I have crossed paths with badgers out here in the sticks and generally just get the heck out of Dodge, in a very macho tail-between-legs kind of way.

You see, if they get their fangs into you, you’re in real trouble. Wikipedia says:

The lower jaw is articulated to the upper by means of a transverse condyle firmly locked into a long cavity of the cranium, so that dislocation of the jaw is all but impossible… This enables the badger to maintain its hold with the utmost tenacity.

Huh? Condyle? Wha…?

Anyhow, all of the nasty badger talk aside, the baby ones are pretty darn cute!! … Especially when they’re being saved: firefighters in Norway rescued three baby badgers from a burning building in Oslo on Sunday, which led to these really snuzzy photos:
