Animal Wars:

Episode :3

A New Meme

It’s a period of cuteness war. Rebel Cats, striking from a hidden base under the futon, have won their first victory against the evil Dog Empire.

During the battle, cat spies managed to steal secret plans about the Dog Empire’s ultimate secret stash, THE GARBAGE CAN, a human storage facility with enough noms to feed an entire litter.

Pursued by the Dog Empire’s sinister agents, Princess Amex races home to the Rebel Cat base under the futon, custodian of the stolen plans that can restore noms to her belly….

Today we implemented a new feature on our little dog website and our little cat website: badges! And one of the first five (and you might want to hold on to these – I am SURE they will be collector’s items one day…) is this lovely Snuzzy badges, showing me being pretty (not hard) while floating words circle my head…

Dogster and Catster members can put them on their pages to show off the things that they like to do in, on, or around the websites! Yay. To add a badge to your page, simply go to your MY ACCOUNT page and the click on ‘manage badges’ and then add the ones you want. There are just a few out now, but more are on the way!

In celebration of Snuzzy’s first year of life on the Interwebs, I’ve decided to take a look back every now and then this week and re-post some of my favorites. Here we go…

There have certainly been no shortage of Snuzzy posts starring Daisy the Curly Cat and her good pal Harley… Daisy is, in fact, a true star of the cat-blogging community, and she’s constantly dishing out great material to her fans. But this one in particular really made me chuckle back in June of last year when I first posted it, and it has the same effect on me now. She’s a very clever cat, and her review of this Magic Rocks experiment is a classic! Thanks, Daisy! Enjoy!

Daisy the Curly Cat is at it again, this time meowing in a review of her new Magic Rocks toy on her blog today. I found it so informative and thought-provoking that I’m publishing it here in its entirety!

Pay attention–take notes if you need to–this is important stuff!

Here is my new toy. I am going to learn how to grow Magic Rocks! This should be a very fun experiment. Before we go further, I will warn you that you MUST have your mom or dad help you with this toy, because there are some chemicals inside. If you are 10 years or older, you can do it by yourself. I am only Four. Years.

First, I am making sure that I have all the parts to my Instant Crystal Growing Kit. You should not leave any parts inside the box. Except, you do not need the plastic wrapper.

These are the directions. They are too hard for me, so my Mommie is going to help. Sometimes, it is good to have a Lab Assistant. (DO NOT use Snail for lab help).

All of the ingredients are assembled, and now we just wait for the Magic Rocks to grow! This part is a little bit boring.

Even though the water looks very delicious, DO NOT drink any.

LOOK! LOOK! The crystals, they are growing! Let’s wait a little longer to see how big they get…

Uh oh. Something seems to have gone terribly awry. What is all that red stuff on the bottom? I hope it is not BLOODS! Because, bloods might draw sharks to the shipwreck.

Mommie, look! My experiment is ruined. Can you fix it?

I am very disappointed in this toy. I cannot recommend it.

ps: I do not think my Mommie followed the directions correctly. Or maybe Snail snuck inside and ruint another experiment. Snail is Bad.

Thanks to you, Daisy, cats everywhere can go about their toy shopping in an informed and educated manner! Keep up the good investigative reporting!

Oh my goodnesses. In near Sixteen Candles-like form, I almost forgot a very important occasion that is happening this week –

Snuzzy is turning ONE!

That’s right, it was a year ago when we decided to introduce Snuzzy.com to the world, ransacking the Internets like a bunch of furry, out of control puppies in attempt to bring you some of the cutest and fuzziest stuff on the web.

I was looking back at the first post (and this one went up before the actual site launched, sort of a test run of sorts, I guess) on March 27, 2008, and there wasn’t a single image involved. Yikes…

Wow. That sucked. And the first actual image to hit the snuzzosphere? Um ,well… it was this one, posted on April Fool’s Day, which (appropriately) is Snuzzy’s official date of birth:

Yeah, that’s right. Another beauty. Things do take a little time to get going, but it wasn’t long before Snuzzy.com was attracting some attention and getting some hits. The first major success was this post, 25 Bits of Snuzz to Improve Your Health, with almost 10,000 pageviews on May 29. To date, this post has been viewed over 70,000 times!

And as things go in cyberspace, we’ve had some other winners, and some real losers on Snuzzy. That’s the fun part about blogging cuteness – you never really know what’s going to strike a chord and what’s not.

For the rest of the week, I’ll be re-posting some of my favorites (both the popular and the unpopular ones) and encourage you to send me suggestions for posting. As you browse back over the snuzz from the past year, feel free to send me links to posts that you really enjoyed this past year!

As always, thanks for tuning in and sharing your thoughts and images with me, and for telling your friends about Snuzzy.com!

Launching into year number two with a promise to keep you pleasantly bombarded with cute and fuzzy collisions, I remain,

Very snuzzily yours,

Snuzzy
